If not for Google map we would never have heard of this place.
We stumbled upon it while looking for hikes to stretch our legs while driving south to the Keys from Orlando. Being not too far from the Turnpike, with hiking trails in the forest, it seemed like a perfect place to stop.
We arrived just in time before the information center closed and got some information and a map. Outside we were greeted by the colorful painted buntings and the mourning doves.
A few meters from the center, was the outdoor classroom where we had our lunch. We sat on the picnic table underneath a big tree and enjoyed the warmth of Florida on our first day away from winter.
The walk was so peaceful, with a marsh and many ponds. One of the few creatures we saw was a very shy turtle in the distance.
The total distance of trails is about 2 miles.
